How to align scan data to the world coordinate system? Which method is better or which are the parameters that I should consider when choosing the method of alignment (XYZ/321 Alignment)?

I have a question about this topic.
What is the difference between XYZ and 321 Alignment? Is there a difference at all?
Nick
1.Both methods would work. XYZ is more for a polar orientation and 321 for a cartesian orientation. How the alignments themselves work is explained directly in the tutorials or in the help menue.
2. XYZ - the origin is fixed, we use with rotationally symmetrical objects
321 - Fixation results from plane / vector / point

I do not want to create a whole topic and since here you've been talking about Geomagic - my trial version will be over soon and I'm interested is it possible to import .ply format file in AutoCAD?
