Laserscanning Europe at 13th international police workshop on laser scanning and photogrammetry in Neuss

Dear laser scanning community,

Last week, we attended one of the most important police workshops on laser scanning and photogrammetry in Neuss.

At the international workshop, 12 nations were represented - including New Zealand, Canada and some European countries.

Experts in the field of forensic science introduced new methods; accident investigators gave a lecture on accident documentation via laser scanning and documentation of airplane crashes - just to list a few examples.

For a simulated damage of a tanker vessel on the river Rhine, different terrestrial and handheld 3D laser scanners and photogrammetric systems were used for surveying and allow subsequent comparison of respective results.

Our team was on site with a FARO Focus3D X 130 HDR scanner and introduced the strengths of scanning technology.

Moreover, we presented our forensic set for determining the line of fire as well as panoramic camera iSTAR by NCTech.

The workshop supplied a lot of new insights and showed major progresses as well as development potentials provided by 3D laser scanning.

We already look forward to the 14th edition of this workshop in 2018.

Such workshop must be conducted for students and other professionals so that the awareness of technology should be increased.
