STP, STEP

STP or STEP (STandard for the Exchange of Product model data) is an ISO initiated interface standard for CAD systems. STEP allows not only the communication of geometric data (such as DXF and IGES), but also the presentation of all product specifications which accumulate in the course of product life. The product specifications can be transferred between the various CAx systems, too. All formats (wire frame model, surface model and solid) of a CAD data model can be part of the description of the geometry.
