Hello there,

I just downloaded the trial version of PointCab. Unfortunately I never really worked with Point Clouds or laser scanning in general so I am very unexperienced. I wanted to import some of your example datas but I am stuck already at the beginning by not knowing anything about the capacity of this software. Maybe there is someone who can help me exploring PointCab step by step?

My first question would be, what the scan radius (layout base settings) means and how it affect my results?

sincerely,

paul

The scan radius is the

The scan radius is the distance from the scanner location to the measurement object. Scan radius 5 meters therefore states that he has only a range of 5 kilometers around the measurement points.

Hey Paul,this makes sense,

Hey Paul,

this makes sense, because while registering with pass marks there can be angular errors. The accuary of points decreases with increasing the radius!

kind regards,

armin
