The FARO Focus3D X 30 (actually FARO Focus3D X 30) is a 3D laser scanner manufactured by the company FARO. The phase-based laser scanner achieves a high measuring speed of maximal 976.000 measuring points per second in theory. The resolution and quality of the scans can be adjusted individually and according to the needs. The FARO Focus3D X 30 captures objects in a range from 0.6 m (23.6 in) to 30 m (1181.1 in); thus, it is perfectly suited for challenges in architectural preservation, building information modelling (BIM), as-built documentation, facility management and forensics. The laser scanner can be controlled by a touchscreen or WLAN. The captured point clouds are saved on the inserted SD memory card and thus can be easily transferred to a PC. Like other models of the X series, FARO Focus3D X 30 is characterized by laser class 1 and noise reduction. In contrast to FARO Focus3D X 130 and X 330, Focus3D X 30 isn't equipped with integrated GPS. Moreover, it has no internal color camera. The power supply is effected by means of an internal battery (duration of approx. 4.5 hours) or an external power source.
