Instructions on file transfer between Laserscanning Europe FTP Server and clients

This instruction manual shows how clients can easily upload files to the Laserscanning Europe FTP Server. The file transfer between the server and the client is performed through FTP (File Transfer Protocol), which represents the Internet standard for file transfers.

This approach makes it very comfortable and easy for you. You can use an easy-to-use FTP application to upload files to the server. FTP applications are available for almost all major platforms including Windows, Linux, Mac, etc. Commercial and non-commercial FTP applications can be used. In this manual, we will use the free FTP tool “Filezilla” (Open Source) to connect and upload files to the Laserscanning Europe Server.

The following access data are required for connecting to the server:

• Address of the FTP server
• User name
• Password
• Connection method

After Filezilla is installed, we recommend using the Site Manager to specify this and other remote settings. That way, there is no need to enter these settings again.

Using Filezilla’s Site Manager to create a new Site in 8 simple steps

1. Click on the Site Manager button.
   
2. The Site Manager will be opened. Click on New Site and enter a descriptive site name (e.g. LSE-FTP).
   
   
3. Add all important information (access data). Fill in the required data in the fields (see illustration). Now, enter your user name and your password provided to you by Laserscanning Europe.
   
4. Finally, click the tab Transfer settings and change the Transfer mode to Active.
   
5. You have now successfully configured your FTP tool to connect to the Laserscanning Europe Server. Click on the Connect button in the Site Manager.
   
6. Once the connection to the FTP server has been established, you will see the Laserscanning Europe FTP Server on the right side. On the left you can see your local folder tree. Go to your “home” folder on the right side. Only there you can upload files to the Laserscanning Europe Server.
   
7. Browse to the local folder containing the files to be uploaded.
8. Now, simply drag the files from the left area into the right area.
