Measurement Devices Limited (MDL), a leading laser scanner manufacturer has entered into an agreementwith Pointools Ltd. to deliver high-performance point cloud software with every new 3D laser scanner starting at SPAR 2011 – the premier 3D laser scanning conference. Pointools software is used by project teams to reference and reuse the largest point cloud models – the billions of measurement points taken by 3D laser scanners – inside the broadest range of applications
Experience proves that mobile scanning takes half the time of laser scanning using tripod setup. This is on top of the 8-10 times improvement that laser scanning already delivers over traditional survey methods, according to 3D laser scanner developer Maptek.
Maptek will visit mining regions in North America between April and July to demonstrate how sites can use mobile scanning to collect accurate survey data in a safer, faster, and easier way than ever before.

The stone sculptures of Stonehenge are remeasured with the aid of laser scanning technology. The last survey by photogrammetry dates back to 1993 and had an accuracy of only 2cm. Precise laser scanners are used to guarantee a new measurement of the stones with a measuring accuracy of 0.5mm.

LIVERMORE, Calif. - March 8, 2011 - Topcon Positioning Systems will display its HD Mobile Mapping system with high precision laser scanner at the SPAR trade show March 20-24 in Houston.
