Importing Single Image Files into AutoCAD

Step 1: Creating Rectangles in AutoCAD

• Create a rectangle for every image file.
• The size of the rectangle corresponds to the size of the image size specified in PointCab.

A movie company in Berlin, specialized in 3D special effects, needed a laser scanner for its next big movie production in Canada. The laser scanner was to be used for a three months period. Laserscanning Europe was represented at the Nubau conference ("Nutzerorientierte Bausanierung" – user-oriented construction renovation) at the Bauhaus-Universität in Weimar. Due to an invitation by the organizers, Laserscanning Europe came to the conference. Point-Cab has many new features that help you work faster and more efficiently:

Module 1: Clear Understanding Viewer

This new tool provides a dimensionally accurate layout plan generated from hundreds of scans. You have a quick overview of an entire project. The viewer allows you to immediately measure distances and surfaces. As usual, you need three simple clicks to achieve great results.

Point cloud plans and views can be directly processed in AutoCAD through an AutoCAD plugin

The AutoCAD plugin allows users to process point clouds, which were preprocessed and prepared in Point-Cab, while using AutoCad. The text file (named autocad-readme.txt) contains instructions on how to install the plugin. 

Leica HDS laser scanner exchange format PTG and PTX

From now on, users working with the laser scanner systems:

• Leica Scan Station C10
• Leica HDS 6100
• Leica HDS 6000
• Leica HDS 4400

can use the latest version of Point-Cab to automatically analyze and interpret laser scanning data stored in PTG format. Formats may be output through Cyclone software.

Import data from Riegl laser scanners into Point-Cab

Use the current version of Point-Cab to directly import point clouds from Riegl laser scanners VZ 400 and VZ 1000.
