Laser Scanning Technology Hits Hollywood

A movie company in Berlin, specialized in 3D special effects, needed a laser scanner for its next big movie production in Canada. The laser scanner was to be used for a three months period. Consequently, the movie company got in touch with Laserscanning Europe GmbH. As the scanner had to be used only for this very project, they opted for the Laser Scanning Rental Services of Laserscanning Europe to hire the scanner unit.Laserscanning Europe was able to provide a fast and stable service by quickly supplying the client in Canada with laser scanning technology.

Laserscanning Europe at the Nubau in Weimar

Laserscanning Europe was represented at the Nubau conference ("Nutzerorientierte Bausanierung" – user-oriented construction renovation) at the Bauhaus-Universität in Weimar. Due to an invitation by the organizers, Laserscanning Europe came to the conference. Eric Bergholz, CEO of Laserscanning Europe GmbH, reported on the possibilities for the recording of buildings by laser scanning in front of participants from the areas of construction, architecture, construction renovation and city planning.

New release of AutoCAD plugin

Point cloud plans and views can be directly processed in AutoCAD through an AutoCAD plugin

The AutoCAD plugin allows users to process point clouds, which were preprocessed and prepared in Point-Cab, while using AutoCad. The text file (named autocad-readme.txt) contains instructions on how to install the plugin. 

Leica laser scanner data can now be analyzed automatically

Leica HDS laser scanner exchange format PTG and PTX

From now on, users working with the laser scanner systems:

  • Leica Scan Station C10
  • Leica HDS 6100
  • Leica HDS 6000
  • Leica HDS 4400

can use the latest version of Point-Cab to automatically analyze and interpret laser scanning data stored in PTG format. Formats may be output through Cyclone software.

Import data from Riegl laser scanners into Point-Cab

Use the current version of Point-Cab to directly import point clouds from Riegl laser scanners VZ 400 and VZ 1000.
