Difference between FAROscene Webshare and PointCab Webexport?

Hello,

I have looked at PointCab's new software modules. It looks very interesting. I particularly find the possibilities for using FARO scans on the iPAD interesting. In our office, we reflected to use an iPAD or Android tablet for representing data at the customer's office.

Until now, we have used a mobile workstation for showcasing the laser scanner data. But the customers often ask if they also need high-end computers in order to be able to look at the scans. Not all customers have a 64bit computer.

What is the difference between the PointCab WebExport tool and other web viewers for laser scanner data, such as FARO Scene Webshare?

A few days ago, I heard that Flash is set for mobile devices on a long-term basis. Is this a problem for laser scanner web viewers?

Web viewer for laser scanner data

Hello Robert,

There are many differences between web viewers. The viewers offered by the manufacturers for their systems (FARO Webshare, TrueView and LFM Netview) are often still designated for the laser scans of the manufacturers. For these scans, the systems work moderately well. Some systems are free; some systems are charged.
You usually need at least one software package of the manufacturer.

PointCab is independent and can process various data formats. For the iPAD, PointCab WebExport is currently the only web viewer on the market. PointCab WebExport also operates on other PCs or tablets without any problem since there are only HTML files. The installation of web servers is not required. Especially customers from the big industry don't install any software. In that case, PointCab Webshare is a great option. In addition, WebExport creates PDFs.

Some web servers use Flash. When Flash will be withdrawn from sale in the future, the manufacturers would improve their products.

Regards.. ...Eric
