PointCab has launched a new product for surveyors on the market: PointCab Register. PointCab Register is a solution for fast and easy registration of laser scan data and consists of special hardware and software. The solution combines traditional surveying and 3D laserscanning.
What is PointCab Register?
PointCab Register is a new approach for surveying. Instead of many reference marks, PointCab Register only needs 2 near targets (small reference spheres with integrated prism on a mounting) which are fastened on the tripod by means of a C-clamp as well as a distant target (a large reference sphere) which is attached to a prism pole.
How does the surveying solution work?
You easily position the distant target in a distance of 10 to 15 meters away from the laser scanner. During laser scanning, the distant target as well as the near targets are captured. By means of a total station, you can measure the center of each sphere before, during or after scanning. The centers serve as reference points for positioning. When using the software PointCab Register, you can improve the positioning enormously by achieving exacter results due to cloud 2 cloud registration.
For which applications is PointCab Register suited?
The surveying solution PointCab Register is especially suited for scanning elongated objects such as conductions, streets, walls and terrain as well as in mining.
