PointCab GmbH, producer of software solutions for pointcloud processing, announced the launch of PointCab 3.3 software. PointCab is intuitive, fast and compatible pointcloud processing software for terrestrial laserscanning data and pointclouds from drones, mobile mapping and airborne platforms.
"With the new version we provide the fastest and most stable version ever" said Dr. Richard Steffen, chief executive officer. "A lot of optimizations had been done and three new modules are included." In addition new import and export formats are supported to be compatible with more scanners as well as CAD-systems.
With the new Photomatch tool one can match high resolution images onto layouts. The user can increase the resolution of 3D models with rectified and high resolution images of important details - e.g. paintings in a museum or in a forensic case combine orthoimages of car accidents with high resolution images of wheel traces. The value of a scan project increased whereas the administration effort for additional photos can be reduced.
The Profiler tool can generate fully automatically profile lines of an elevation model. One can generate profiles of streets with curbs to analyze the waterflow or use profiles to measure the cut in a building pit, fast and reliable. Using the Pointcloud Export tool one can export the points of a certain area and reduce its size easily and fully automatically. The reduced pointcloud can be used in a CAD system to fit parameterized objects into it.
