3D Survey of an Historical Industrial Building

3D Survey of an Historical Industrial Building with PointCab and AutoCAD Architecture for Analysis and Interpretation

The in situ scanning was realized without physical contact by a FARO 3d laser scanner within a time frame of about three hours. This approach allowed a thorough visual and geometrical analysis of the scanned areas. Analysis and interpretation were completed in only one day.

Analysis of 3D Data (Image Mode)

Following the onsite scan, visual and geometrical analysis was completed using the Faro Scene Software. Colorful panoramic scenes are available worldwide via webshare and are provided to the customer free of charge. The images allow an accurate visual analysis as well as precise geometrical measurements within the 3D model via zooming and panning.

Analysis of 3D Data (Pixel Mode)

Individual parts of the data model could be hidden to achieve greater clarity. This allows innovative representations and active animations of the structure from completely different perspectives.

2D Analysis with PointCab in AutoCAD Architecture

Efficient replanning and conversion have been possible due to accurate 2D images formed by orthographic projection with PointCab and the ability to view the inventory and rooms from arbitrary directions and positions.

Extremely accurate creation of as-built documentation: sills, pilasters, and other shapes.

Accurate dimensioning of roof steel structure design

Creating CAD models by using reference edges of the building
