Amplitude

The Amplitude is the raw measurement of the power strength of the return echo. It is the value of the power of the light that we receive back from the target. Later on, during real-time post processing, we receive amplitude which is defined as the ratio of the actual detected optical amplitude of the echo pulse versus detection threshold of the instrument. Thus, the value of the amplitude reading is a ratio, given in the units of decibel (dB). By introducing amplitude readings in this way we can use it to improve the object classification.

Leica BLK360

The Leica BLK360 is a 3D laser scanner from Leica Geosystems. The 3D scanner, which operates based on the Time of Flight (TOF) method and with laser class 1, captures the environment with full-color panoramic images. It covers a measurement range of 360° (horizontal) x 300° (vertical) and achieves a measurement speed of up to 360,000 points/second. The BLK360 is not only equipped with a spherical imaging system, but also with HRD and thermal imaging technology.

Leica RTC360

The Leica RTC360 is a high-speed 3D laser scanner from Leica Geosystems. The Time of Flight (TOF) laser scanner with HDR image processing enables a measurement speed of up to 2 million points/second and the generation of colored point clouds in less than 2 minutes. With a range of 0.5 to 130m and a field of view of 360° (horizontal) x 300° (vertical), the RTC360 is ideal for a wide range of applications. The video-enhanced inertial measurement system tracks the single scanner positions in real time, enabling automated field registration without targets.

Trimble X7 Scanner

The Trimble X7 Scanner is a 3D laser scanner manufactured by the company Trimble Navigation Limited. The time-of-flight scanner allows scanning in a range of 0.6m (23.62 in) to 80m (3,149.61 in) at a scanning speed of up to 500kHz. It has the laser class 1 and is protected against dust and water jet thanks to ingress protection rating IP55. The Trimble X7 can be used at temperatures from - 20 °C to + 50 °C.

3D laser scanner

A 3D laser scanner is an optical measurement instrument which captures measurement points in the three-dimensional space without contact. By capturing a close-meshed point mesh, complex geometries can be represented in a so-called point cloud. For capturing more complex objects, several measurements from different perspectives are necessary. In order to merge the various scans correctly in analysis software at a later time, high-quality laser scanner accessories, such as reference marks (reference spheres, checkerboard targets), are required.
