When surveying railway lines and track networks, Deutsche Bahn AG prescribes specially developed marking material for certain applications to meet the requirements of track construction.
Due to higher train speeds, surveying the position and height of the track and ancillary systems very accurately is becoming increasingly important. When surveying rail lines and track networks, the fixed point field of Deutsche Bahn must be used.
Deutsche Bahn's fixed points are mainly so-called mast pins, which are located close to the track. They are attached to the catenary masts or to the new railway track posts. On the one hand, the position of the tracks can be checked using the distance and height of the track axis to these so-called reference points. On the other hand, the front upper point of the mast pin has a coordinate that can and should be used for subsequent measurements.
