Create a fly-through video using Arena4D software

Visualize and animate point clouds easily with Arena4D

Arena4D from Veesus is specialized in visualization, exploitation and animation of huge point clouds and GIS data. For instance, the software allows editing, analysis and registration of scan data as well as creation of fly-through videos. You can expand your scan data by context - for example panoramic images, documents, photos, audio, CAD models or GPS tracks. By adding the fourth dimension "time", you can present all data in an analytical or narrative manner.

Various point cloud formats (E57, LAS 1.2, LAZ, ASCII and XYZ) can be imported into Arena4D. The software is compatible with point clouds of different types and manufacturers of scanners:

• Airborne scanners (e.g. Riegl LMS 780)
• Mobile scanners (e.g. Street Mapper)
• Handheld scanners (e.g. Mantis F5)
• Static scanners (e.g. FARO Focus3D X 330, Leica C10)
• UAV scanners (e.g. Riegl VUX 1)

Due to the free "View only" mode, third parties can easily have a look at your data. For this purpose, no license of Arena4D is required.

Import a point cloud and create a fly-through video

Within just a few clicks, you can import the point cloud in Arena4D and optionally define the position of the scan project on the earth. Afterwards, you can make various settings for the scan project and adjust the environment of the scanned object as you wish. Thus, you can display or hide the globe, the sky, the position of the sun or the compass among others. By using the dimension "time", you can create flood simulations, for example.

For creating a fly-through video, you define various viewpoints in the scan project; they are used for the tracking shot. The viewpoints are independent of the scanner positions and can be modified in respect of location and direction of view. After having set the preferences for the movie, Arena4D creates a fly-through video based on the viewpoints at the touch of a button.

Apart from Arena4D, you can create fly-through videos directly in FARO Scene due to a plug-in. In contrast to Arena4D, the FARO Scene plug-in allows you additionally to use the scanner's positions as viewpoints. Hereinafter, you see two fly-through animations created in both software solutions compared to each other.
