Trimble Realworks Survey is the first software supporting E57 data standard

Trimble, a leading manufacturer of surveying solutions and laser scanners, announces that the next release (V7.0) of the Trimble laser scanning software Realworks Survey supports the data exchange format E57 E2807.

The format E57 E2807 was developed and advanced by the ATSM International Commission in the USA. The format is supposed to help users to change the laser scanning data easierly. Developers of laser scanning software who are independent of manufacturers also benefit from the format. They don’t have to implement and adapt all interfaces of the manufacturers anymore.

It was very comprehensive so far to use data of different manufacturers of laser scanners together since each laser scanner has an own format. Because of the enormous data size of the scans, using free formats, like ASCII, is very comprehensive. If a client had decided for using a data format, he could hardly use other laser scanner data. This does not correspond to the market needs.

The E57 E2807 format could produce relief in this case. Realworks Survey by Trimble is going to be the first software which supports this format. Due to the implementation of the E57 E2807 format of the global player Trimble, further manufacturers could support this format within a short time. Thus, data is going to be better exchangeable and laser scanning service provider can provide data easierly.
