Real Estate Surveying & Architecture
The Lixel K2 is ideal for the fast and precise scanning of buildings and interiors. The efficient creation of digital as-built data plays a crucial role, particularly in the real estate industry.
Typical applications include the creation of floor plans, living area calculations, and digital building documentation. The scanner also provides a reliable data foundation for remodeling, renovation, and planning.
The point clouds generated allow buildings to be rendered realistically and processed directly in CAD and BIM software.
Engineering Surveying & Construction
In the construction and engineering surveying sectors, the Lixel K2 delivers impressive results with its precise measurements and fast data capture.
The scanner is used for as-built surveys, as-built documentation, and monitoring construction progress. Even complex facilities and infrastructure can be efficiently captured.
The high-resolution point clouds provide an accurate basis for planning, analysis, and quality assurance.
Historic Preservation & Cultural Heritage
The Lixel K2 is a powerful solution for documenting historic buildings and cultural assets.
This scanner allows buildings and structures to be digitized in fine detail and archived for the long term. This supports restoration projects and enables a precise analysis of existing structures.
The combination of geometric and color data ensures a realistic representation of historic objects.
Volume Calculation & Material Management
One of the Lixel K2’s key applications is the measurement and calculation of volumes.
The scanner is ideal for measuring bulk materials, stockpiles, and storage areas. Material quantities can be determined quickly and accurately.
This enables efficient inventory control as well as transparent and traceable quantity determination.
Digital Twins & Modern Workflows
The Lixel K2 forms the foundation for digital twins and modern data-driven processes.
The captured point clouds can be integrated into BIM software, used for visualizations, or incorporated into planning processes. Simulations and analyses can also be performed based on the 3D data.
In this way, the Lixel K2 supports companies in digitizing their projects and ensures more efficient workflows.
TitleControl & Connection of the Lixel K2 Scanner
The Xgrids Lixel K2 scanner is controlled via the LixelGO app, which can be downloaded for free from the Play Store or App Store. Once installed, all you need to do is create a user account. The connection between your smartphone and the scanner can be made either via a cable or wirelessly. However, for a stable and reliable connection, we recommend using a cable.
TitleLixel K2 with SLAM workflow
For an optimal SLAM workflow, it is important to choose the same start and end points to maximize data accuracy.
Then, move at a walking pace through the areas to be scanned. Be careful not to rotate the scanner too quickly so that all environmental details can be reliably captured.
Once the scan is complete, return to your starting point and end the recording.
TitleData Processing on the Lixel K2
The data captured by the Lixel K2 scanner can be processed in two software solutions: Lixel Studio for creating precise point clouds, or Lixel CyberColor for generating Gaussian splat data.
Lixel Studio
With Lixel Studio, you can convert the scanner’s raw data into a highly accurate point cloud and then process it further. This includes functions such as cropping the point cloud, applying filters, creating cross-sections, and drawing points, lines, and other geometric shapes.
The MapFusion function also allows you to merge multiple scans. Additionally, GNSS data can be analyzed, and coordinate transformations can be performed using control points.
Lixel CyberColor
With Lixel CyberColor, you can use the captured data to create high-quality Gaussian Splat (3DGS) models that can be repurposed for a wide variety of applications.
Compared to its predecessor, the Lixel K2 is equipped with two 180° cameras and an additional front-facing camera. Similar to the PortalCam, this enables particularly detailed capture of objects and areas.
