With Dot3D 6.4, this powerful 3D data capture software gains numerous new features that further simplify day-to-day mobile data capture tasks. In addition to expanded volume calculation capabilities and additional RTK support, users benefit from faster data capture, improved annotation features, and numerous optimizations for stability and ease of use.
New Volume Calculations for Bulk Materials and Terrain
One of the biggest new features in Dot3D 6.4 is the new Pile Volume Tool. It allows you to quickly and accurately measure piles of bulk materials such as sand, gravel, soil, or other materials. The volume is calculated directly from the 3D model and is suitable, for example, for applications in construction, surveying, or mining.
In addition, the Fill Volume calculation function has been revised. Its operation has been simplified, enabling even faster analysis of embankments or terrain changes.
Enhanced RTK Support
For even more precise georeferencing, Dot3D 6.4 (Prime) now supports additional GNSS receivers with real-time correction (RTK). New additions include:
- Bad Elf Flex
- Bad Elf Mini
- RoboDot Touch
- General Laser GLRM
In addition, the stability of NTRIP connections has been improved. If the cellular connection is briefly lost during data collection, Dot3D automatically reconnects to the correction service once the connection is restored. This reduces interruptions during longer scan projects.
Faster data capture and improved AprilTag detection
Data capture performance has also been further optimized. AprilTag recognition now works significantly faster, allowing reference markers to be detected sooner and scan processes to run more smoothly.
On iOS devices, parallel image capture also ensures that data can be captured even more efficiently. This can noticeably increase capture speed, especially for larger projects.
More options for 3D annotations
The annotation feature has also been enhanced. You can now add multiple files to a single 3D marker at the same time.
In addition to photos, you can also, for example,

- other documents
be attached directly to a specific location within the 3D model. This allows you to document additional information in one place and find it more easily later.
New Safety Features During Recording
For iOS, Dot3D now provides real-time feedback on tracking quality during data capture. If the system detects that position tracking is becoming inaccurate or is at risk of being lost, the user immediately receives a warning. This allows errors to be detected early and prevents scans from being interrupted.
Additional Improvements
In addition to the major new features, Dot3D 6.4 includes numerous minor improvements:
- Export of high-resolution keyframes in E57 format
- Improved coordinate settings while maintaining the direction of gravity
- Revised user interface
