A closer look at scanner production at CHCNAV in Wuhan
How are modern LiDAR scanners manufactured? To find out, we visited CHCNAV in Wuhan and gained exclusive insights into their production process.
The facility manufactures the RS10, RS30, and the new RS7 scanners, among others. It becomes clear just how much precision and expertise goes into their development and production. Every step is designed with quality and reliability in mind.
In addition to scanners, CHCNAV also produces sensors for UAV drones and UAS boats. These are used in surveying and mobile mapping and enable precise data collection from the air and on the water.
Another highlight was a Gaussian splatting model created from UAV data using the cloud-based CoCloud software. The technology enables realistic 3D visualizations and opens up new possibilities for analyzing point clouds.
We also had the opportunity to interview Professor Changjun Chen. He has been working on SLAM and LiDAR since 2000 and offers fascinating insights into the development and future of these technologies.
