Point clouds in the timber construction software SEMA

For some time now, we have also been supporting various customers from the crafts sector. In addition to steel construction, timber builders and carpenters also belong to a large customer group. Staircase constructors are now also using the advanced 3D laser scanner technology.

A big problem in the craft sector is that many existing CAD systems do not support scan data, so users cannot work with the scan data in their familiar environment. For a long time, one solution was the PointCab point cloud software from our partner company. This workflow also worked with the SEMA software at first. The following video gives you some information about this topic.

With SEMA version 19-2, the timber construction software can now directly support scan data itself. For this purpose, the developers at SEMA have developed and integrated a "point cloud engine".
This of course increases the acceptance and simplifies the processing of laser scanner data in the CAD system.

Thus, the manufacturer SEMA is the first provider of a timber construction software that can work directly with scan data.

Of course, timber construction companies also need the appropriate surveying hardware. As a leading one-stop shop, we can offer interesting solutions:

1. Sale of equipment

We are a specialised dealer of various scan system manufacturers, but also the biggest distributor of the manufacturer FARO. With the FARO FocusM 70 and FocusS 70, FARO offers very interesting systems for this user group.

> Buy laser scanners

2. Laser scanner software

The scan data of individual positions must be merged into a 3D model again using software. For this purpose you can use the software of the scanner manufacturers or alternative manufacturers. We are familiar with the variety of solutions and will be happy to advise you.

> Buy or rent software

3. Renting instead of buying

For many craft customers, laser scanners are a new tool. The acquisition costs are higher than, for example, a point-based measuring system (e.g. Flexijet), but offer great cost-saving potential for more complex construction objects. With our large rental park, we offer an attractive opportunity to try out this technology without major risks.

> Rent a laser scanner

We already cooperate with SEMA software. For example, we presented a laser scanner at the last BAU tradeshow in Munich at the SEMA booth and explained the technology to customers there.
