Leica HDS8800

Leica HDS8800 is a 3D laser scanner from the company Leica Geosystems for mining and operates using the time-of-flight measurement method. The major upgradings of the predecessor model Leica HDS8400 are the increased maximum range of 2.000m (78740 in) and the built-in 70 mega-pixel digital camera for colored scans. For stone (at least 80% albedo), the maximum range amounts to 1.400m (55118in), for coal (at least 10% albedo), it amounts to 500m (19685 in). At a measuring speed of 8.800 points/second, the surface is captured in a field of view of 360° x 80° (horizontal/vertical). Leica HDS8800 contains a digital tilt sensor and an additional aligned laser pointer. By means of a solid array processor or a tablet PC, the scans can be controlled. The replaceable NiMH battery provides a duration of approx. 3 hours.
