EMLID Firmware Update 33

TitleNew two-channel correction output and improved UHF compatibility for the Reach RS3
With the new firmware update version 33, EMLID brings exciting new features and optimisations for its Reach receivers – especially for the Reach RS3. The aim of the update is to further improve performance in the field and enable even more flexibility when using different transmission paths. The update is available for the Reach RS3, RS2/RS2+, RS+, M2 and M+ devices. Furthermore, the new firmware allows you to stream corrections from your Reach base via two output channels simultaneously.
More stability via UHF for Reach RS3
One of the most important innovations concerns the UHF communication of the Reach RS3. The new firmware improves compatibility with third-party base stations that transmit via UHF – especially when using the TRIMTALK 450S protocol. This should make the RTK connection more reliable and stable even in challenging or disturbed environments. For users, this means fewer connection interruptions and consistently precise positioning.
Two channels for the correction output
A real highlight of the update is the new option to send correction data simultaneously via two different channels. For example, if you want to provide a drone mission with corrections via NTRIP and simultaneously record ground control points (GCPs) via LoRa, you can now do this with just one reach base. This new function makes complex workflows simpler and more efficient.
Further improvements in detail
In addition to the major new features, firmware 33 also includes numerous smaller optimisations:
- The GNSS chip firmware for multi-band devices has been updated to further improve the accuracy of position calculation. As a result, the 10 Hz RTK update rate is now only available when the BeiDou satellite system is deactivated.
- Bluetooth management has been revised. Reach receivers now only support one active Bluetooth connection at a time – either classic Bluetooth or BLE.
- The mobile connection configuration has been optimised to make connections faster and more stable.
- The compatibility of Reach antennas when used as rovers with third-party base stations has also been improved.
- There are also new signal strength displays directly in the Reach Panel – for LoRa on the Reach RS2/RS2+ and for both LoRa and UHF on the Reach RS3.
- In addition, the LoRa radio parameters have been adapted to meet the legal requirements in Japan.
