Many users know the FARO Focus3D but only a few know its history. The predecessor of today's FARO scanner has been developed by the company iQvolution based in Ludwigsburg (Germany). The founders were the brothers Dr. Bernd Dietmar Becker and Dr. Reinhard Becker. In 2005, they sold the company to FARO Technologies Corp. in the USA. The development of scanners could be expedited with the fresh capital from America and resulted in the current model FARO Focus3D.
Fortunately, I received this interesting image from a former colleague. It shows one of the first scanner types of iQvolution AG.
Please note the control via PC. For this model, a battery was far away, too. The cable drum was a daily companion.
