Topcon IP-S2 for Microsoft Streetside

Topcon's mobile mapping solution IP-S2 provides the basis for data capturing for the new online map service Microsoft Streetside. Microsoft Streetside is in competition with Google's Street View.

The data capturing afield is accomplished by the American company Navteq. Navteq is one of the main suppliers of geological data. The European site of the company is in Veldhoven in the Netherlands. Navteq focuses on the mobile mapping solution IP-S2 by Topcon.

The Topcon IP-S2 mobile mapping system consists of a 360-degree panoramic camera, a 2-channel GPS receiver and an IMU (inertial navigation system). The measuring vehicle created 3D panoramas of the surroundings. Then, these ones are used as views in Microsoft's Streetside.

Topcon will present the mobile mapping system IP-S2 to the audience in a technical lecture at the Bauscan2011 on November, 17th/18th.
